firewire to usb 1.1 hub,will it work?

as my usb connections are full could i use my 2 firewire ports to connect a 7 port usb hub

Yes it should work fine - all firewire/USB connections are 2.0 - 1.1 should be OK but if it was the other way round then that is a no.
