i have fitted replaced a new dimmer switch now the lights dont work?

i replaced my dimmer switch which stopped working and changed the bulbs they are normal bulbs 60w i have 3 small wall lights run off 1 dimmer switch 2 leads i put the leads the same as in the old switch but they dont work it is fitted ok the leads are in tight etc
any ideas please thanks

If you installed a solid state dimmer without turning off the power, it is even money the switch will no longer work. I have seen that as the most often reason a dimmer doesn't work when installed. Get your local hardware store to sell you a dimmer that is not solid state if aailable, and try again, and alwys turn off the power and lock out or secure the source (breaker)

The switch only breaks into the supply, be it a switch or a dimmer, I suggest you shut off to the light supply(remove fuse or open circuit breaker ) and connect the 2 wires together at the switch then re-instate the light supply the lights should come on, if not then there is a break in the wire to or from the switch
