moving socket down wall?

I want to move a socket from mid wall to bottom of wall. do I have to use a 20amp junction box in old socket box and channel in new cable to lower box.

it depends if the feed is coming from the top or bottom ,if top you need a 32 amp jb if cable come up from bottom then you don't need jb
