How to get my pc to reconize my slave drive?

I had 2 hard drives in my pc , both were up & running finebut, I had to reformat my whole pc & now only one shows up in My ComPuter or Windows Explorer. Device Manager shows both & says there's no problem with either of them. What did I do? Can anybody guide me through the simpless route to fix it? I know quite a bit about pc's but, most of the time it's just enough to stumble through or God Forebid get me into a worse mess.

Hi Patti - probably what happened is when you reformatted your one hard drive you had to change the jumper to MASTER - you probably forgot to put it back to slave when you reinstalled it. If they're both set to master you'll get conflicts. Also, your master drive should be the last drive on the ribbon cable and the slave should be in the plug between the master drive and the motherboard. Some cables cause a problem. Hope this helps! The solution will depend on the operating system you have and when you reformatted your whole computer, did it show up during the setup process?
