How can I fix my Kenmore 70 Series Washing Machine?

The wash and the spin cycle do not work at all. The machine will fill up with water and drain water but makes a clicking sound when it is in the wash & spin cycle. Also, how do I take the front or back off this machine to see what the problem is?

Hello Chris,

This is the signs of a broken motor coupler that sits between the motor and the transmission. To get the cabinet open you have to first take the screws out on each side of the panel and then lift it back. After that, unplug the switch thats near the middle of the panel. Then stick a screwdriver in those two clips and bend them back toward the panel to release them. Once all thats done grab ahold of the cabinet and pull forward and the whole cabinet will tilt forward so you can just remove it. You can see everything in the washer now. You may be able to see broken pieces of the coupler once the cabinet is removed.
