after a washing a load the top loading door refuses to unlatch to open the load....can;t even recycle the load to wash again, all settings refuse to release the door...what gives....

I have an UltraMate stackable and when I first got it the door to the washer would not unlock. If I pulled the on/off switch out to start the cycle then pushed the open button the door would unlock and you could pull the door open and then push in the on/off switch to stop the tub from turning. After I did this a few times the open button started working again.

I have the same model. I love it, but the washer is starting to give me trouble. In my case, a wire had burned out. The repairman was able to splice and re-attach it. But the washer has just gone out again (and there was a slight burning smell).

It was very difficult to get to the wires. He had to undo much of the front panel (and I think he ultimately reached the wires when he disassembled part of the dryer front.

I have had 2 people work on this machine, and neither had ever seen one. I am going to try to contact Speed Queen to see if parts are even still available. If not, time for a new stackable. I will really miss this one. It has been going for 20 years! They don't make them like this anymore!!

did you ever find an answer? I have the same problem..I cannot get the washing machine to open. I don't know how to open the latch.
