noisy cistern?

After I flush and the cistern starts to refill, there is a loud noise, like a vibrating sound, coming from the plastic pipe within the cistern that refills the tank. Any possible (easy) way to cure this.
Many thanks.

Replace the diaphragm in the fill system, I had same problem. It turned out that the diaphragm was worn, and was causing the water to vibrate through the sticking diaphragm. It cost me 12p for a new diaphragm, best 12p I ever spent for the peace and quiet at night.

It sounds like you have water hammer from the water coming through a partially opened valve. Make sure that all valves in the system are turned fullyopen and then 1/2 a trun back. The reason for the 1/2 turn back is to prevent the valve sticking fully open so that when you try to move it - perhaps to *open* it - you try to turn the valve and jamb it even tighter. You then don't know if the valve is stuck open or stuck closed.
