Getting tv into vcr mode without remote?

Our children both have 19inch LXI TVs. The problem i that their remotes are either lost or broken, and we can not figure out how to get the tv to play with their DVD players. Replacement remotes do not work either. What can we do.

If you connect the DVD boxes to AV1 on the TVs using SCART cables they will often switch automatically when the DVD is switched on.

i think you press the channel button on the tv, until you reach ext 1, or ext2 or AV depends on which station your dvd is set up on - hope this helps!
