My internet will not work with new computer?

I just build a new computer and i can not get on the web. I have check all the wire and networks and everything seem fine.When the web page is opening it says detecting web proxy and then nothing. What could i do?

Start by putting whole lot more information about your connection on a NEW question because this one is not answerable.

Type of WAN connection e.g. ADSL, cable, dial up? Using a router or a modem? How PC connected to the router or modem e.g. USB Ethernet.
