Why is my Potterton EP3002 control "fluttering"?

I have a Glow Worm wall mounted gas boiler & Potterton EP3002 digital control box, replaced about 18months ago. The 2 mains neons just "flutter" & you can hear the switch contacts rapidly trying to connect, but no amount of switching on & off and adjusting will get the unit functioning. The clock time is stuck at the time the fault occurred. I have taken the box off the mounting plate & fiddled around with what I can externally. But nothing but the fluttering contact noise. Is this familiar to anyone & can anything be done apart from replacing the control unit? Any help gratefully received!

I had exactly this problem yesterday. It was just stuck at the time when the systems was meant to come off. None of the buttons on the EP 3002 responded. However, by pressing all five buttons together, the system re-set itself and all was fine. it is now working perfectly again. Has anybody had this experience? Will it happen again??

Resetting the unit by depressing all 5 buttons (a U2 battery seemed best) fixed the problem instantly. Thankyou Tommy

It is not in the instruction manual but if you place a battery depressing the five buttons, which are used to set timers, this is the RESET technique. Then all you have to do is set the current day and your timers. Hope it helps.
