can someone help with system restore?

I never realized i had to create a system restore point. is there a way to restore my pc since i did not create one. i have gone to system restore, it has days that are highlighted in bold and it allows me to select them. when i click on system restore it shuts down and acts like it is going to complete, but when the pc reboots a message pops up that says unable to restore from restore point. what do i do?

It is probably infected with a virus, since restore points (backups created by Windows) are either corrupted or deleted by virus or a malware.

The best way will be to format your system and re-install your Windows with a clean CD. Do remember to take backups of all your data. Another important thing before formating; you should have all the drivers (display, motherboard, networking, printers and scanners) in hand.
