I have bought a second hand sky+ remote tuned to TV but wont work Sky + box

i have had mine installed but due to living in a flat they where only able to use the one cable (already installed in the flat) is there anyway of splitting the signal so i can use sky+

it is nothing to do with not having a sky+ subscription with me i bought a brand new box from sky they fitted it and the lot but i think its a faulty box as it wont work with sky+ it just says system faliure or something like that

That is because for a Sky+ box to work you have to have a Sky+ subscription. There is no way around this.

BTW for it to work properly (record one channel while watching another) you also need to have two inputs from your dish.

They aren't really worth buying second hand because if you take out a Sky+ (which you have to for it to work) subscription then Sky practically give them away.
