How can i fix my built in DVD player on my Windows XP PC?

Everytime i go to watch a DVD on my PC, it jumps and stopped, as if the DVD is scratched. Now ive tried with new unscratched DVDS, and thats not the problem, and its not the software either, so could anyone tell me how to fix it to play a DVD as normal? Its a Windows XP tower by emachines.

firstly have you got the correct firmware for your dvd drive? if so , have you got the correct codecs in for your drive? try software like k-lite codecs.
type: k-lite codecs full in your explorer bar to download. try this
