tape loads but will not play?

when I load a tape into my Panasonic NV-HD100b vcr the tape loads and is pulled around the heads but the capstans don't turn, the tape then ejects. Any ideas?

Hi, although not an answer to your question, this might help if the repair is not economically viable. I need a remote for my NVHD100B and will gladly buy yours if you wish. Best of luck with the repair though.

Chance it's not fully completing loading. Check the coupling hidden inside the plastic worm gear of the loading motor, it often splits in K-mechanism. Usually results in F03 or F04 fault indication on front display.

Otherwise, suspect capstan drive IC or capstan motor itself, if no capstan rotation whatsoever. Normally tape would be ejected immediately without capstan. If it is a capstan fault, probably not worth repairing.
