VCR Memorex MVR4040A?

I blew a fuse after a storm and lost 3 vcrs including this one (Memorex MVR4040A) with a library tape in it. The new fuses (1.6A 250 V ) Just blow again when I plug it in.

This might sound stupid, but are you near any powerstations? I think that might be it. (Also, I never heard of a Memorex VCR! Only recording media)
