my pilot light will not stay lit on my gas heater?

any ideas my pilot light will not stay lit i have a johnson @starley 25-32miii gas central heating boiler it blows out warm air through vents in each room it is about 28 years old and was working fine 2 days ago we had to turn the gas of to replace the water heater then when we tried to light it it will not stay lit

You say that it is 28years old. It could be the main gas valve, this may prove difficult to replace. Or it could just be the thermo coupling, a universal thermo coupling may do the job.
