It certainly isn't protocol to use any metal pull cord on any bathroom fitting - although the chance of any electrical problem is unlikely. I guess that if you joined the chrome cord to the existing fibre one outside the light unit this could be acceptable but no one could really recommend it. Also, some pull cord appliances don't like a heavier weight of an accessory - it upsets the switch action.
