Why won't my PC shut down?

When I try to shut down my PC it just's restarts and wont turn of, I have to switch it of at the mains, I am running windows XP Pro and its just starting doing it.

Any ideas please?

Most likely cause is a windows registry error or a motherboard fault.

Are you clicking the start menu then shut down? that should work. or maybe try holding the power button for a few secondes rather then a short press. EIther that or you are just pressing the reset button.
