someone tried breaking into the car by pulling the handle and the lever mechanisim has broken. ive managed to get the door panel off but dont know what to do from there to fix it. its a ford fiesta P reg

Help just brought a second hand car and the out side door handle of the drivers side is broken you can open it from inside but not outside how do i get to door pannle of cause aty the bottom it wont lever of

Hi Abbie, with the door panel off you will see a metal box covering the handle/lock mechanism this is held in by two large phillips screws one on the bottom edge of the door and another on the side of the door above the latch you might need to cut the sealant around the edge of the box, with this removed you can get at the bolts and the operating link for the outside handle, you might be lucky and find that the rod from the handle to the latch has popped out of its plastic keeper
