This is a common problem with washing machines.
If the machine is about 3-5 years old and has a had a pretty hard life, my moneys on warn out brushes on the motor.
These can be replaced very easily and are usually ( I am not familiar with your washing machine) in a plastic casing that can just pop out.
Once you have located the motor you only have to remove two wires. You may have to remove belt to gain access to one of the brushes but this is fairly obvious.
You can get the brushes from domestic repair shops and you would be looking at between 8-30 quid for replacements.
But the best place I have found is http://cpc.farnell.com
Or a more refined search :

Good luck! If you need any more help contact me.
