running out of space on d drive, what should i do now?

after further investigation of my problem regarding d drive space i followed suggestions from this site and discovered that d drive has
1.70GB free of 289GB. my computer being not even 6 months old.
while the c drive being much larger it is 228GB free of 289GB?
i also followed up on suggestive instructions: double click
my computer, and double cllick d drive. then when i opened up factory image (D:) all that was available i could see was
the recovery partion used . i must not be seeing everything clearly? for a drive that has only 18 percent remaining space,
i should see many more files than that?- chris

Do NOT do anything with D drive !! It contains the information needed to repair or reinstall your operating system and drivers for your computer. I think you are misreading the numbers. Your hard drive is a total of 289gb and has been partioned into 2 drives C: and D:. C drive contains everything you are using for day to day operations. You should only be concerned with how much space there is free on C: drive. D: drive is normally only as big as needed to store the recovery information normally about 8GB. If C: drive is getting full you will have to delete some of YOUR files - documents, music, videos.
