Hi Colon, first is your system recognizing your scanner. Click on "Start" "Control Panel" "System" then select the tab "Hardware" then "Device Manager". It should appear in the category "Imaging Devices". If you see it listed and there is no check mark next to it then your computer knows it's there. If not, you will need to reload the drivers. Just insert the scanner cd and it should start by itself. The follow the instructions on the screen. If you don't have the disk go to Google and search using your Scanner name and model followed by a (/) and "Driver"/"Download". Hope this helps. If it doesn't you can email me directly and possible we can find a fix for you. shopbruce@gmail.com

First the obvious answer is scanner turned on?
Second is the scanner drivers and program installed on your computer. To find out right click on My Computer > click on Properties > click on Device Manager is your scanner listed?
If not you will have to goto the manufacture's website and download the drivers while you are there download the scanner program. Make sure you download your Windows version (XP, VISTA). Before installing the driver unplug the scanner from your computer until the driver says to plug in.
