we are trying fit a new light fiting in ther kitchen?

it is affecting the smoke alarm and the lights in the hall. There are 3 black wires comingout of the circuit and 3 red wires and 3 earth wires, we haveconnected it as per the diagram attached with the light fitting but it affects the smoke alarm and the two light fittings in the hall

Additionally DIYing kitchen electrics in the kitchen is not legal in the UK unless you are competent person - and it doesn't sound like you are. :-)

This sounds like another classic mixed up switch line mistake.

Your coonections should look like this.

All 3 reds go together with a connector on them and taped up.

NOTHING ELSE CONNECTS TO THEM.

2 of the 3 blacks are neutral 1 is the switched live and should be marked with a red sleeve.

If you have mixed them up you need to identify the switche live.

If not the neutral of your fitting goes to the 2 blacks the live to the black with the red sleeve.

To identify the switched live is easy but you need some simple test gear........
