Sony Trinitron KV-35S40?

T.V. will not turn on. Red light just keeps flashing. No sound, no picture. There were no previous symtems. T.V. worked perfectly, until this occured.

I had the red flashing light (continuous flash) and i fixed it by unplugging the tv and plugging it back in!

I realise that the posting I am replying to is over 2 years old but I found it only yesterday when looking for a solution to a problem that I've now fixed, so perhaps someone else will end up here after me.

I have a Sony Trinitron and thought it had packed up. I was just about to buy a new TV when I found the instructions, (if all else fails, etc) and realised that I must have switched off the TV at the plug when it was in standby mode.

It's working fine now. Try:
- Pressing the Main Power switch on the TV
- If the red standby indicator is on but you have a black screen, press any programme number on your remote control or the button on your remote control that switches the TV from standby to fully on.

try pressing the sleep button on the remote to the TV, when my tv did this, this resolved it. I think that maybe the maid accidentally hit the sleep button when she was cleaning up

This happened to me in January 2005, and I found out it is common issue with Sony TVs. Sony power supplies have been known to fail. After the power supply was replaced/repaired (overall it cost ~$270 -- mostly labor), the TV worked fine. However, just 2 weeks ago the TV picture went. My son described it as the picture getting smaller and smaller until it went out completely within a minute. The sound is still there along with the continually flashing stand by/timer light.
