How to replace motor brushes in a Dyson DC07?

My husband used powder carpet fresher in my Dyson DC07. Now I have no suction in the handle and the motor is really loud and when I turn the unit off, it takes a while for it to stop turning inside.

Can this repair be done at home? I was told over the phone by the vaccuum place that it would be like $200 to fix.

Are you in the USA? $200 seems a lot. In the UK a full service from Dyson only costs about $80 and that includes parts. They visit your home and do the repair on site for this too!

I suggest you look at the Dyson website and contact them direct. They are very helpful and efficient. here is the link to their US site.

If you are not in the US, follow the link and choose your country at the bottom of the page. Good luck!
