Hi Paul,
The best practice is to do all the demlisions first, then chop out for all your new sockets whilst building all new wals in stud or blocks, run all the wires including phone, cable tv and alarm.
Then start on all of the plumbing, Soil and Vent Pipe replacement, if poss with a 50mm solvent weld pipe connection to take your bathroom wastes and kitchen waste. Remember to fit 75mm water seal traps to pipes the conect directly to the SVP.
I have just replaced the whole water main from the street from an lead pipe with a bore of about 10mm to a new MDPE pipe of 25mm. Some of the can be done for free from your local supplier under the Lead Replacement Scheme. This I find is a good idea if you have a quite a few water draw offs which could be used at the time.
Next all of the heating pipes, BUT leave themin the floor close to where the rads will go.
Plastering, then all second fix carpentry, then all of the painting. Now at this point you can fit all of the brand new rads, The kitchen units and bathroom and all of the tiles without having to risk getting them covered in paint and the best bit of this process forme is damage limitation.
As the goods will be delivered to site you can fit them right in place.
Only a rough guide mine you. I have developed and used the process now for 12 years and works great.
