How do I connect 2nd computer to internet when it says cannot find server?

I'm with Virginmedia and have tried installing the only original disc I have, blueyonder broadband internet( from telewest) to my 2nd computer as suggested but to no avail. I've connected it by a new wired ethernet cable to my Linksys WRT54gs router. When I click on Internet Explorer icon it says internet connection unavailable and then after clicking try again.....cannot find server/DNSerror comes up. There is no wireless card in the 2nd computer. Can anyone please help me?

Can you email me at compdoctor2005@btinternet.com

The most likely reason for this.... assuming you are using a hard wired connection from 2nd pc to router, is the internet settings. These can be found by clicking on tools at the top of the page (internet explorer)followed by internet options, click the security tab, click the "custom level" button and work your way down the list to "enable each setting, set the "java permissions setting to medium safety, set the software channels" to medium safety, set the "user access log on " to anonymous log on, click apply and then ok the pop up security box. Then try and connect to the net.

You don't need any software to connect a PC to a router. If you currently have one PC connected to your ISP (Virgin Media?) via the router then connect the second one to the router via an Ethernet cable. Then open a commnd prompt and key ipconfig /all. Report the result in a NEW" question DON'T reopen this one.
