How do I fix my bathroom tap?

I am having problems with the hot water tap attached to the bath. The cold water tap is fine and other hot water taps in the house are fine. It is an old tap (I would guess 30 years) in a hard water area. When you turn the tap all the way round only a dribble of water comes out, but if you then turn it back and forward again with some force it comes out a bit faster, you have to repeat this 10+ times to get a decent flow out. Is this just a washer which needs replacing or do I need a new tap. Thanks.

if the two taps are that old get rid of them , and put new ones on , thats easy for me to say i know" but if you can get at the nuts to turn take them off , i would replace them , if not try take the top off the hot tap and have a look at it, see whats makeing the valve in that tap stay down , limescale, washer , take it apart if you can and clean it up on the inside, try get a new washer for it , if the shaft is not broken, sometimes them old taps can be a nightmare to get off , because you cant get at them to turn the nuts , ps turn off the water first , good luck
