Maytag MAV-16 Ensignia washer?

My washer doesn't always drain the water.
It completes the timer cycle but it isn't a pump or clog or a pump problem. The washer will be in the spiin cycle on the timer, but the unit continues to wash the clothes. Opening and closing the lid stopped the agitator and the unit goes into spin for the rest of the cycle. Any ideas?
I bought the Maytag because of it's previous reputation, but the one I have shows that the company now makes junk!

Ours won't drain or spin out about half of the time. It seems to only do this on the white cycle. Sears says we are using too much soap. I have owned Sears washer for the past 35 years and have never had this problem.

It sound like circuit board located in the bottom of the machine, if you have no c/b then it's the timer as c/b timer in one
