DIY fixing of Samsung LE40R73BD?

My tv stays on for a while then pixelates badly as if the signal is going (which it isn't), goes all sorts of colours in vertical and horizontal lines and finally goes off. Then it comes on and off randonly for ages...

Sometimes it just freezes.

It's definately nothing to do with the signal because we've tested it loads.

Please can anyone help?

Thanks

This has just worked for me. My wife was busy looking for a new set at the time (no faith!!). Many thanks.

Hello there Penny
you can try a reset, before you pay for a main board.

All you need to do is
1 turn the TV into Standby
2 press these keys (info) (menu) (mute) (power)
The TV is back on and you are in the service MENU.
Now press your down arrow key until you get to number 12 on the on screen options,
It’s marked RESET.
Push the arrow key to the right, this will switch off your TV and reset it back to when you first got it.
So you will need to retune your TV stations back in.
You might need to setup the TV custom options if you changed any. like your colour or contrast.

if that doesnt work, go back into the service mode again, (same as above instructions)
this time go to option 1. Calibration.
it will either say success or failure
just press enter and move the arrow key to the left.
to exit this mode press (menu)
Turn the TV off and then back on and see if this helps.
The samsungs are good TVs and you can fix a lot of things from the service menu.
Good luck
