How can if fix my Hitachi 55fx20b projection television?

My hitachi 55fx20b projection television has no sound and no picture. When you push the power button it clicks but nothing happens. What is the most likely cause for this and how can it be fixed?
Kim Watson, May 2008
The problem with my 55fx20b turned out to be a little three terminal voltage regulator in the main switching power supply. This thing looks like a TO-220 case power transistor. The referance number is I904 and it is tied to the B+115volt line that feeds the horizontal output stage. The actual part number is SE115. They can be obtained from your local dealer for less than $10.

I am trying to help out a friend with his 55FX20B Hitachi. I am pretty sure this is a symptom of a dried out electrolytic capacitor in the power supply (located in the center back of the main p.c. board). Will keep you informed.

Hi Kim,
Same thing just happened to my 55fx20b. I hear a click (tv turning on), but the power light blinks and no picture or sound comes out of the TV. Mine was manufactured September 2006. Did you get your fixed? What was the problem? How much did it cost? Please email me at fit68@juno.com. Thank you.
