I had a similar problem with some new memory I recently added to my desk top PC - in the end I had to take the existing memery module out of the first slot and put it one of the other sockets, then fit the new module in the first soket - Bingo it worked fine with no problems since - sahme they don't mention this is the non-existent user manual.
Hope this helps

Make sure the memory you're adding is correct for your computer. If in doubt look at the "good" one and make sure they are a match. If they are the same, try putting your new one in the 1st slot and your older one in the second. Memory is different for every motherboard so having the exact type is important. Check your mother board on the Internet if you're not sure.

Check that it is the corrret memory for the box.
