reinstall win 98 HP pavilion 6630?

I tried to up grade to win XP. Not enough RAM. Now I want to reinstall WIN 98. I have reformatted to FAT32, put in the recovery disc and rebuted to the "boot computer with cd rom support". Then all I get is the A:\ promt. HELP!

Thanks for the advice. I have tried all commands suggested by Mark and Mike. I have verified that my cd drive letter is E: and have typed, setup, startup and win98. Every time it says,"bad command". I have made two different startup discs from different web sites. I'm thinking my problem has something to do with the way HP has protected thier disc to only work on HP computers. I tried to view the contents of the disc on my Gateway and was denied access with the message "This CD is only designed to work for an HP Pavilian PC". Maybe the format has erased some unlocking code or identifier.

Has anyone heard of this?

reformatting has wiped everything totally out
which should have been at command format c:
if youve got that far you just type setup and hit the enter key and it should work
or you can try cd d/(means change directory in dos)thatll get it onto the cdrom
then type setup
Ps youll need all your old drivers etc if your using win 98 unless by a miracle theyre all found
Typically you need a motherboard driver and an agp driver
go to hp homepage and theyll be there
Good luck Mark

It said bad command?

type the following d:/win98
I think that this might help you!
If not let me know and I will dig out my old install notes.
