kenmore 80 series belt replacement?

how do you re4place a belt on a kenmore 80 series washing machine?

What moron posts a response about a question 6 years old. or even 6 months old. Do you really think this person waited 6 months or 6 years to fix his washer. Idiots. I have similar problem with my washer. I have a broken thing in my motor area that looks alot like a freaking belt!

The Kenmore 80 Series Washing Machines do not have belts. All Kenmore Washing Machines after 1983 are direct drive, meaning that they don't have a belt. Only the dryers have belts. That is why both responses are about the dryer.

Disconnect the wire first! you need to take the large back cover off with a 1/4" socket and then you can take the 2 screws out of the 2 silver plates with a 5/16" socket to be able to lift the top off. You can use a strong plaster spreader inserted in the space to pop the top off. Take out the 2 screws from the lint box. Remove 2 screws from the top front corners with a 5/16" socket. The front lifts away from a retainer at the bottom on both sides and off the drum. Then you can pull out the drum gently.
Buy a new repair kit that has a belt, idler pulley and drum support wheels. It is less than buying 2 items individually, also. Then you put the belt on ribbed side down to the drum. The bottom of the idler pulley sits in the large and small slots that are nearest to the motor, so that the pulley itself is leaning towards the motor. Pull the belt over the pulley and then onto the motor spindle. The drum will move a bit, but you can pop it back in no problem. Put the front back on and plug in and test the dryer. Then remove the plug and put everything back together reverse of taking apart. Do not do repairs with it plugged in. This is a very high current machine and a serious electrolocution risk.

remove the two screws from the lint filter. Place a flat screw driver beneath the front lip above the door on the left and right side and gently pry up. The top will come up like a hood place something behind the dryer to lean this on when it is up.
Disconnect the elctric clip for the door on the right. Top left and right inside front there is a screw on each side. Remove these and pull the front of the dryer up and off. The drum will drop down a little when you do this a third hand to hold this up may help. With the drum out you'll see the mtor and in my case the belt lying on the bottom of the dryer.
Put the new belt on the motor and run it through the tensioner in the bottom of the dryer. Slide the drum back in and reverse the previous steps.
