I downloaded update to my freebox box (Matsui/Astratec) yesterday morning and since then the box doesn't seem to be reading the remote control. The red light is permanently on (it doesn't flash when pointing and pressing the remote) on the front of the box and nothing is making it work. Have switched off, unplugged, changed batteries in remote etc. Any suggestions. My email address is jacqueline.carson@hbmsayers.com.

I think your box crashed during the 'Update'. Try going to the 'Menu' (via your remote control if you can) and choose the 'Installation' option as if it was a brand-new 'Freeview' box. Give it a few minutes to complete the installation process and you should hopefully clear this fault. It has worked for me on a different make of freeview box.Tom Derby.

Yes, take it back to Currys. Take your receipt too, so you can get the repair under warranty if it is still covered.

I suspect that it is toast. Matsui is an Own Brand of Currys but I spect that it will cost more to fix than buying a new one.
