I have a pentium 3 computer running windows xp professional,at the moment I have lost my start menu, I have no taskbar,no start button,all I have is a background picture.I can access the internet only through task manager which I get through pressing ctrl,arrow and esc buttons.Can anyone help me with this problem.

sounds like some one might have move the task bar off the screen, try moveing your mouse to the very bottom of the screen and see if it changes to a up and down arrow if it does click and hold to drag it back up, but if it has move to far off screen try changing the screen size by right clicking on the desktop -properties, and select the settings tab, in there change the screen resolution to a bigger size and hit apply then keep going up and down in the sizes and see if it comes back.

hi emma,
did you load anything new onto the pc, or delete anything? you can start the pc up in safe mode by pressing f8 on start up, this should give you your desktop at reduced function though, but its a way to repair it.
