Hotpoint WMA36 washing machine will not drain?

I have a Hotpoint WMA36 Aquarius Extra washing machine which is 3 years old and has stopped at the end of the cycle full of water. The door opened, so I was able to get most of the water and the clothes out but I cannot get the remainder of the water to drain. Any advice?

My WMA36 had the same problem. You need to loosen the large hoseclip which holds the Filter housing onto the bottom of the drum casing and pull/twist this housing down untill it comes off, inside of this housing is a removeable filter which is in 2 parts (top and bottom cages) and inside this there is a ball float.
My unit had about a 1/2 Kilo of crud jammed inside, this prevented the water from reaching the pump. Clean it out and reassemble - it will now work - Guaranteed!! (I wish Hotpoint would put the filter in the front of the machine with an access hole there, it would make cleaning SO much easier!!)

Here's an answer I had to a problem after some things disappeared under the drum. The items had lodged in the rubber pipe just before the pump that empties the water. It might be that there's a blockage that is stopping the water from draining - or maybe the pump is broken?

I hope this is of use to you
