Transformer on a lighting circuit?

Hello. I would like to fit an extractor fan/shower light (12V SELV transfomer. thermal fuse)onto a lighting circuit. I know it should be fitted to a seperate DP fused switch but is it really going to be that much safer?

Thanks pip. If I work on anything electrical I'd switch off at the consumer unit & if noise becomes a problem then it goes back.
So are you saying it's ok(safety wise) to add the fan/light to another gang on my lighting circuit switch (outside bathroom) via 1.5mm cable? Cheers.

The reason for a DP switch is for local isolation, so if you need to work on it you can turn it off localy!

It's also be very helpful if the fan becomes noisy in the middle of the night
