i have a Diplomat dishwasher model number ADP 8132, and every time i put cutlery and sharp knives in, they are always coming out with rust spots on. i have checked the cutlery and they are dishwasher safe, and i never used to get the spots using my dishwasher in my previous house.

check wether you need to use as much salt. my water is very soft and I get rust everywhere if I use salt at all
