Sony Trinitron XBR will not power on?
The TV (Model KV-32XBR37...I'm guessing on the "V-3" part, since it's all scratched off there on the back) stopped working right in the middle of watching it. It acted like it shut off on it's own, but when I went to turn it back on...nothing. I pushed the button a few more times, and then it started clicking nonstop. Every time it's plugged in, it clicks (sounds like a relay), but never goes on. There aren't any blinking lights, since I've read that people mention 6 blinks or something. I tried unplugging it for a few days with no results. I guess I should add that it occurred maybe an hour after a thunderstorm came through on an outlet without surge protection (bad idea). I am your typical poor college student who can't afford to get it repaired, so I would like to do it myself. I have worked with basic analog circuitry, and major in electrical engineering (though an underclassman with limited knowledge yet), so I figure I could give it a go, since it's getting tossed anyway. I've read something along the lines of a transistor or cap that needs to be replaced...how would I know what part needs replacing? Anywhere I can get schematics or anything? How would the average TV repairman do it, except without charging myself over 100 bucks just to look at it like I've seen people do?
