Sanyo; black screen with a white line across HELP?

my tv is nothing more than black with a thin white line going across the middle of the screen, horizontally. sometimes i give it a knock and its fine.....but recently even thats not working. It seems like maybe its the image that got squished into a line not thicker than a credit card. I read that it might be a faulty "vertical switch"??

I have the same problem on a JVC C-21ET1Ei

As well as black screen and thin horizontal white line, I have no sound.

Could it still be this chip when I have no sound as well, or should I be looking closer at the power supply ?

I have touched up this chip, also the Normal/Service switch

You probably have some bad connections on the bottom of the circuit board.you will need a low wattage soldering iron and solder. use good lighting and look for an ic mounted on a heat sink, usaually about 9 or 10 pins .part number on chip should be LA7837 or LA7838 GOOD LUCK
