no flow from combi boiler to radiators?

Baxi Genesis 80 - hot water ok but all radiators cold.

When CH is switched on, the system fires up and the temperature lights indicate that the system is heating according to the control setting. All radiators have been bled. Pump has also been bled and checked by opening the centre screw and inserting a small screwdriver, which rattled around with the turning of the pump. Also, auto bleed valve opened shortly to ensure no air present. All seems ok, but CH flow pipe is cold, like the radiators.

What does the 3 way valve do? Could this be the cause of the lack of flow?

Any ideas?

A three way valve and a divertor valve are the same thing . it just depends which make it is . you can replace the head on some valves on others you can replace the motor on others you have to replace the whole unit.

thanks fitter - i'm just learning as i go, but thought I had read that the diverter valve and the 3-way valve were the same thing ?!?

just checked ure q again if u have a combi boiler u wont have a cylinder so its the diverter valve which has gone and not a 3 way valve

souns as if the motor on ure 3 way valve has gone when its not energised it opens to the cylinder coil so first check u have power at the moter then check if it opens enough to make with the micro switch
if not new motor about £9.00 or a new valve bout £45.00

thanks steve - if the flow to radiators is ok after a manual override, this would surely indicate that the cause is a faulty valve - not sure where to locate the lever though, as it doesn't seem to be obvious (at least to me).

Handy Andy, September 2005
the 3 way valve directs the flow of hot water from th boiler either into your cylinder or around your radiators if it is all going into your cylinder then it is probably faulty, there should be a manual override lever which will let it go around your heating system if you operate it.
