I just bought a projector off ebay the fan works and the light works problem is I think is that the light is not in line with the mirror it will not cast light on the screen is it fixable ?
Violet - is it a slide projector? Does it have a maker's name on it? Does it have a suitable lens in the front?

We had a similar problem with our lcd projector.
It could be the menu has been set a black background.
Cant remember the name of the company but i can reccommend calling this firm who were understanding and very helpful.
