Black Screen White Horizontal Line?

My tv has just started to get a black screen and a white line straight through the middle (horizontal) I can hear the sound and sometimes after a getting it a bash the picture comes back.

I've heard it could be a dodgy connection or field output IC. Would it be an expensive repair or can i do it myself.

Tv is Watson FA2801 TS

Cost wise,..expect around £40 - £70.

It's a simple repair for a TV engineer. It will be dry joints to the field output IC or field output circuit.

Personally, I would replace the IC in any case if dry jointed and check/replace leaky electrolytic capacitors in the field output circuit.

Not to sound patronising but it's genuinely dangerous to attempt to repair even apparently simple faults unless you're a qualified TV engineer, we know what to look out for.
