I have the stainless steel combination microwave.
It has begun to turn itself off early or not start when I press the power button. I have to physically hold the door up at the handle side before it will start and then it cooks as usual.
Is it the hinge that is the problem and how to fix it.

Well done! I'd be interested to know how easy it is - I've just seen a Delonghi microwave on gumtree that I suspect is broken in a similar way... what do you think? Does this look like how yours was? (http://www.gumtree.com/london/64/33501864.html)

We fixed it ourselves!
After removing the outside steel shell we watched how the door engages the switches inside behind the control panel. Ours was not engaging the top most microswitch and a quick adjustment of the screw holding the retaining bracket was all it needed.
