Bubbles in paint?

I painted my doorstep late last night over an existing layer of paint having removed any flaky bits, with a gloss finish black paint. This morning I notice that the part of the doorstep covered by the door is perfectly finished whilst the part exposed has many small bubbles. What has caused this and how can I prevent it happening?

Many Thanks

It's probably caused by rain drops or condensation overnight if the protected part was o.k. if it was a reaction to the new paint all of it would be affected.Re-paint during the day or cover it over til it dries.
