I just noticed that my washer isn't spinning during the spin cycle and it is not agitating during the rinse cycle. It is a Kenmore 80 series washer and is about 8 1/2 years old.

Hi Melissa,

If the motor is turning (working) but the washer won't agitate or spin it sounds like you have a broken motor coupling which is a pretty easy and inexpensive fix. Your going to have to get that cabinet off to find out where the humming is comming from. First, post your model number so we can make sure your washer is this particular type.

It just makes a humming noise as if it is trying to spin but can't. It empties the water out, but the clothes are still soaked, of course.

if the belt is still intact check the wig wag. they are soleniods that control those actions.
