How can I fix my heating?

My heating is only partially working. If radiators upstairs are turned on they seem to overheat and it is boiling upstairs but the downstairs radiators don't heat up at all. If I turn all the radiators off upstairs the heat very gradually comes downstairs and the radiators eventually heat up. Is this a problem with the pump?

have bleed the radiators and yes can hear pump working

if the downstairs rads are on a drop system and your heating system is old you could have a different problem but id def start looking at pump.

Does sound like it could be a pump problem (can you hear the pump working?). One thing I would try is to "bleed" each radiator to make sure there isnt any air trapped in the system. You need a radiator key from a DIY store and loosen the valve at top end of each radiator to release any air - when water squirts out the air has been removed.
