The pilot light on the old baxi bermuda back boiler I have went out and I have tried repeatedly to ignite. Held in grey knob and simultaneously pressed black ignite button but only see a spark. The flame did come on but for a few seconds only. Tried with heating system switched on and switched off. Help!!

you need to replace the thermocouple.the other possibility may be the pilot flame jet is partially blocked or needs cleaning.
