How can I fix my Hoover SteamVac Deluxe?

Everything was fine. All of a sudden it made a weird noise, like a vacuum cleaner when it gets stuck on something, and then stopped working. At this same time, also started smelling like maybe a belt burning or I hope not the motor! Where do I start?

Start with the belt. There should be an access panel to get to it and replace it usually pop off with a screw driver(looks like a vent on bottom. Or it might just be the motor. I too just had a bissell blow on me. Turns out the pump motor was made in Mexico. Go figure! I only owned mine about 18 months and received 5 times of blissfull use out of it. Anyways, you can tell if it is the motor because electric motors usually self destruct when they go. And yes you will smell a burning smell. Hopefully its the first because motors are about as expensive as parts come for these machines. If you can't do it yourself you might as well buy a new one.
